My name is Ivana, and I am an experienced news reporter currently living and working in Birmingham, Alabama.

My focus? Criminal justice. I have spent years covering Alabama’s prison system and courts, reporting on countless state and federal hearings. I have witnessed nearly a dozen executions in the state, establishing myself as the go-to reporter for news on the state’s use of capital punishment.

I’ve worked in all different areas of media, including broadcasting, digital news, magazines and print news. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I successfully produced and hosted an online interview show, gaining thousands of daily viewers on social media while delivering trusted information about the state’s pandemic status.

Currently, I am an investigative reporter covering justice for AL.com, which includes three brands. Those publications (The Birmingham News, The Huntsville Times, and the Mobile Press-Register) went out of print in February 2023.

AL.com is the leading news website in the state, with an audience is 3 times the size of the state’s population.

I was born and raised in Alabama, and graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a B.A. in Communications and a focus in journalism. Go Blazers!

Outside of work, I am a homebody who loves working out, playing with my dogs, binge watching reality TV, and spending time with my family.
